      MUNCAT APP F.A.Q.

  • MUNCAT demos

A couple of demos have been made available for the MUNCAT system:

    • App demo: View demo on YouTube
    • Dashboard demo: View demo on YouTube
    • Workplace based assessment workflow: View workflow on YouTube
  • 1. How do I download the MUNCAT app?

You can download the MUNCAT App from either:

    • Apple Store
    • Google Play
  • 2. How do I log in to the MUNCAT app?

    • Ensure you have a valid MUN account and contact your Discipline Program Administrator. They will approve your request for access and notify the MUNCAT team to create your account.

  • 3. My login credentials are not working. What do I do?

    • Ensure your device is connected to a WIFI or mobile network.

    • Verify your MUN account credentials are valid. This can be verified by attempting to login to my.mun.ca using your credentials. Update your password if necessary.

    • Next, ensure you are only using the prefix (userid) and not the full MUN email address as your id. For example, if your MUN email is student2022@mun.ca then your userid is student2022. This is the id you would use for MUNCAT.

    • Your MUN account password may have expired (this will happen every 6 months). Go to my.mun.ca and try logging in with your credentials. If your password is expired, you will be prompted to update it. You may also need to do so within the MUNCAT app so that the accounts are synchronized. Open the MUNCAT app and from the menu select ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then UPDATE PASSWORD and enter the new credentials. WARNING: If you logout with pending sync items they will be deleted. If you have to logout, check with muncat@med.mun.ca to ensure you will not lose any activities.

  • 4. Will the MUNCAT app still work if I don’t have internet access?

    • YES! Observations entered into the MUNCAT app while the device is not connected to the internet are stored locally. These observations can be synced to the server manually once a connection has been reestablished. To manually sync on the App: Menu > Sync > Sync Offline Data

  • 5. My Offline EPAs won’t sync. What should I do?

    • Ensure your device is connected to a WiFI or mobile network.

    • Verify your MUN account credentials are valid. This can be verified by attempting to login to my.mun.ca using your credentials. Update your password if necessary.

    • If you have updated your password for your MUN account recently, you may also need to do so within the MUNCAT app so that the accounts are synchronized. Open the MUNCAT app and from the menu select ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then UPDATE PASSWORD and enter the new credentials.

    • From the menu in the MUNCAT app: Menu > Sync > Sync Offline Data.

    • If you still cannot sync, record the displayed error and send in an email to muncat@med.mun.ca with a brief description. A member of the MUNCAT team will respond to the support ticket.

  • 6. The Observer doesn’t know their PIN. How do I submit my observation?

    • If an observer cannot remember their PIN or this is their first observation, they can enter a dummy PIN such as 0000 or 1111. This will result in a follow up by Program Administrator to confirm the observation with the Observer to ensure data integrity.

    • We recommend that observers use a valid PIN as opposed to a dummy PIN if at all possible. To obtain a new PIN or receive a reminder notification, please email muncat@med.mun.ca.

  • 7. Can an observer submit an observation on their own device?

    • YES! They can complete the observation on their own device and then enter their PIN and submit.

  • 8. As a resident, can I enter an observation on my device?

    • YES. Simply login and complete the workplace-based assessment with your observer and at the end when prompted for a PIN, pass the device to the observer to enter their PIN and complete the observation. Please follow all COVID-19 protocols.

  • 9. How can I track my progress?

    • You can see an overview of your progress in the MUNCAT app by selecting Progress in the menu at the top left of the screen.

    • You can also see a detailed view of your submitted observations by logging into the MUNCAT dashboard at https://cbme.med.mun.ca

  • 10. Who do I contact if I am having problems with MUNCAT?

    • For help with the MUNCAT app or dashboard, email muncat@med.mun.ca
